Synopsis
The story of American poet Emily Dickinson from her early days as a young, rebellious schoolgirl to her later years as a reclusive, unrecognised artist. As possibly the greatest, unappreciated female poet of her time, she struck out against the strict rules of the Victorian era and had an inspirational, autonomous mind. With witty dialogue and a stunning backdrop reflecting centuries passed, British director Terence Davies brings this tragic story hauntingly to life, perfectly portrayed by leading lady Cynthia Nixon.
