An Earth in ruin. The twilight of the Gods. For the long-awaited finale of Wagner’s epic saga, director Barrie Kosky plunges us into a contemporary world of dream-like turmoil, as the Royal Opera Chorus brings opera’s greatest journey to its shattering end.
Deception turns to treachery when Siegfried is tricked into betraying Brünnhilde. Discovering his innocence, she returns the ring to the Rhinemaidens and orders Valhalla consumed by flames.
Antonio Pappano, Conductor Laureate of The Royal Opera, conducts Wagner’s impassioned score, including Siegfried’s Funeral March and Brünnhilde’s electrifying Immolation Scene.
Led by Elisabet Strid, Andreas Schager and Mika Kares, the cast joins the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and Royal Opera Chorus.
